Head of Finance
Reports To: Parker Ence (CEO)
Location: Draper, UT or Remote

About the Role

As the Head of Finance at Jump, an innovative AI SaaS startup, you’ll be the key driver behind our financial operations and strategies. You will own and optimize the financial infrastructure, providing the groundwork for scalable growth. Your role is critical in building out our finance processes, ensuring compliance, and guiding strategic decision-making. As we scale, you will also play a central role in managing relationships with investors, board members, and other key stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to build something from the ground up and directly influence the financial trajectory of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the finance function at Jump and manage all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, reporting, forecasting, and compliance.

  • Develop and implement scalable financial systems, processes, and strategies to support rapid growth and operational efficiency.

  • Work closely with the CEO and executive team to provide financial insights, forecasts, KPIs, and budgets to inform company strategy and decision-making.

  • Play a key role in managing relationships with investors and board members, ensuring reporting transparency.

General Ledger & Close

  • Oversee the monthly and annual close process, including reconciliation of accounts, journal entries, and preparation of financial statements.

  • Build and continuously improve the close process to ensure efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.

  • Maintain financial records in accordance with GAAP, while remaining flexible to adapt to evolving company needs and growth stages.

Revenue Recognition & Billing Workflows

  • Manage SaaS revenue recognition, including deferrals, accruals, and other adjustments, in accordance with ASC 606.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to ensure accurate billing, resolve invoicing issues, and align billing with accounting and CRM systems.

  • Build and scale billing systems and workflows to support the growing customer base and complexity of our SaaS model.

Accounts Payable and Expense Management

  • Oversee accounts payable, vendor payments, employee expense reimbursements, and corporate card transactions.

  • Implement and refine expense controls to manage company spend effectively and maintain financial discipline.

  • Take a strategic approach to cash flow management, ensuring sufficient liquidity and efficient allocation of resources to support growth.

Tax & Compliance

  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, including sales and income tax compliance, across relevant jurisdictions.

  • Continuously assess and improve internal financial controls to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with all regulations.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and present monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)

  • Provide actionable insights, identifying key variances, trends, and financial metrics that drive business decisions.

  • Use financial and performance metric data to recommend strategic actions, highlighting opportunities for operational improvement or cost optimization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with teams across the organization, including Product, Customer Success, Sales, and HR, to ensure financial objectives align with company goals.

  • Lead the finance function in supporting cross-functional projects, working efficiently to deliver solutions as the company scales.

  • Collaborate with technology and operations teams to align financial processes with the company’s tech stack.

  • Collaborative & Clear Communicator: You are an excellent communicator who can translate complex financial concepts into actionable insights for non-financial team members and executives. You work closely with all departments and thrive in a team-oriented, transparent environment.

  • Strategic & Agile: You can move quickly while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy, and you are able to pivot and adapt to new challenges as the company grows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Proven experience leading finance and accounting functions in a high-growth SaaS or tech company.

  • Strong expertise in scaling finance systems, revenue recognition, and compliance in a subscription-based model.

  • Experience managing relationships with investors and board members, and preparing financial reports for external stakeholders.

  • Comfortable with occasional travel (if required for business or investor-related activities).
